The party will be at TEATRO ODISSÉIA, a multiple place in Lapa that presents any kind of artist event... from loud music presentations to theatrical and exhibitions. There is a good restaurant, where you can have a good drink and some snacks and meals. It´s important to say that the venue is frequented by a younger clientele. So, not so far, you´ll see everybody rocking body and shaking the dance floor.

And CHOCOLAT PARTY, this friday, will make a tribute to "International Women´s Month", and the DJ´s will celebrate this date with famous feminist (current) songs: Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Madonna... Girls pay only R$15 and will receive as a gift one CHOCOLOVER.... But, what´s it??? Everybody comes to Rio already knows about samba, carnival and other brazilian rhythms... but, some of then, when arrive here, they listen something about "Funk Parties" and other popular parties fed by dancing musics.  Funk music is a kind of brazilian hip hop, and shows a very sensual movements and a strong beat.   And, here, in Party in Rio, we give you suggestions over the best funk parties in our city, as Via Show, Castelo das Pedras and others. Though these funk clubs are a bit far from the most hostels in hotels, we recommend to visit it if you have a free time.

However, when you cannot go to funk party located far from you, the funk party comes to you at one of the best nightclubs of Rio de Janeiro: BARONETTI, located in Ipanema. Of course the price is wide higher, but you will enjoy a great club, drinks and meals, and the most important, the most beautiful girls and handsome guys.

This wednesday FUNK CLUB will, once more, present MR. CATRA (the most famous funk artist of nowadays) and one invited funk artist besides him. It means that you will shake your booty all night long, listening the best funk music and being surrounded by beautiful and interesting people.

To leave a bit of routine Saturday night and dance the best of African music, Afrobeat, our suggestion is  the festival   which rolls into Multifoco, Lapa: The FESTA(party) MAKULA .

The MAKULA is basically a party which plays the best of Afrobeat, the musical genre that takes in jazz, specifically African elements and soulfunky created by Nigerian Fela Kuti. It also present some other African rhythms as highlife, voodoo funk, soul, african, african-rock, soukous and kuduro.

Attending the CDJs makula artists like matata, antibalas , Manu Dibango, frank, tony allen, orchestra baobab, Seun Kuti, Mulatu Astatke, Daktaris etc (besides the founder of that band africa 70, obviously) showing the power of sounds and rhythms repertoire of the black continent in very little times - if ever - run by the majority of DJs from Rio, and even by other states (or countries).

To create the climate of the African Night, movies are displayed on screen.  Music is the theme as Weapon (documentary on Fela Kuti) and ethnographic films of Jean Rouch.

For this anniversary edition, the festival  will present a relic of African music that has its origin right here in Rio de Janeiro: the group Vissungo in the heart of Rio de Janeiro (Lapa) at Multifoco

Always with the brothers Spirito Santo in front of the Vissungo between 1974 and 1996, had a career that was marked by a long season in Europe (Italy and Austria) - more precisely, from 1989 until its end. The group came up with the proposal to merge the diasporic rhythmic heritage of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, and its surroundings - that has its origin in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea, mainly - with modern music which was being produced in Africa, and that both had prestige in Europe. At the time, the group's proposal was not absorbed by the music industry or even properly understood by the critics and the musical community in Brazil, more focused on defense, without nuances, the preservation of cultural forms, pure and simple assimilation of international pop.

The venue Multifoco  scheme operates in a 2 in 1! Besides being a publisher that specializes in publishing new authors, the house works for events of all rhythms.
The two floors of the house parties and house releases. The decor is on account of the numerous objects developed by the studio Objeto Quase and enchants transforming simple match boxes and  

ping-pong in beautiful lights.

If you ask for a Taxi Driver or need a tip from your hotel about a good nightlife experience in Rio de Janeiro, 9 from 10 of them will suggest you RIO SCENARIUM (and the blog agree!!!). Why?

In fact, nobody knows specifically the reason. The club is beautiful, the music is good, the location is very accessible, but, like many other in Rio, it´s a one more good place to visit. But, you will see it if you go there that everybody feels in RIO SCENARIUM: a brazilian spirit demonstrated by many sensations, feelings.... It´s magic, believe in it!!!!!

You´ll see a great brazilian decoration and old objects, you´ll eat a good brazilian food, you´ll drink great good caipirinhas and the most important: you listen only good brazilian music! Different from other clubs, the "dancing floor", which is on second floor, plays only "dancing brazilian songs", like Paralamas do Sucesso, Marcelo D2, Seu Jorge and Jorge ben Jor, for example. So, the traditional venue turns into a interesting dance floor.

The venue is attended by many tourists, mostly brazilians from São Paulo and Minas Gerais. But not so far you will find some europeans, americans and foreigners from all over the world there!

This friday, JUNIOR PARENTE, EXPRESSO CARIOCA and TOQUE DE ARTE will present the best of brazilian music, in rhythms like Forró, Samba, Choro and Gafieira. The "CLUBE DOS DEMOCRÁTICOS" has been presenting this real "carioca" lifestyle for many years, even when Lapa neighborhood was off-fashion, a few years ago.... It has some samba concerts and other typical brazilian music, like Forró, Gafieira and Choro, giving opportunities to amateur groups to play on its stage. sometimes, you´ve got the exchange of experience between this groups and renowned musicians. CLUBE DOS DEMOCRÁTICOS is one of the most important samba clubs in Rio de Janeiro.

As it´s happening every thursday since 2002, the "RODA DE SAMBA ANJOS DA LUA" presents the musicians Alfredo del Penho, Eduardo Gallotti, Mariana Bernardes, Pedro Holanda, Sandrinho and Sérgio Krakowiski playing classics of samba from Noel Rosa, Donga, Zé Ketti and Cartola, ones of the most important samba composers.

The club is very spacious, and you can stay closed to stage... and if you have the "talent" of dancing samba, you should try to get a partner and go ahead... the entrance and the beers are very cheap, so you don´t have any excuse so as not to try!

In portuguese, this is the vignette of the "Funk Sound Team" that will make you rock your body all night long.

CASTELO DAS PEDRAS is an independent industry of funk music, and is located in Rio das Pedras. Only the neighborhood is a particular feature, because Rio das Pedras is a big flat slum. It´s not, as most slums, located in hills.

Rio das Pedras is a slum occupied mostly by northeastern people, and there aren´t incidences of violence or drug traffic, as common in other slums. And you can see it proved by the fact of many social classes go there, from wealthy persons to residentes from the Rio das Pedras slum.

As the night in LAPA 40º is well known and recommended, next saturday a good brazilian program can be made there, specifically on third floor. The party will have genuine brazilian music, as is the proposal of the club, presented by BANDA SIGNUS. This band plays a modern maxixe, gafieira and axé music, a mix of rhythms from the Northeast region aggregated to carioca samba.

Then, the second attraction is BANDA V-TRIX. This musical group plays some 80´s and 90´s covers from a mix of famous artists, that comes from Michael Jackson and Village People to brazilian artists as Cazuza and É o Tchan... don´t be surprise if you see on the stage some people costumed, for example, as Madonna...

           -> BANKS - they won´t open at MONDAY and TUESDAY. If you need to withdraw money, ask your travel agent or hotel/hostel the closer "24 hour-terminal";

           -> HOSPITAL, POLICE DISTRICT - open regularly;

           -> MALLS, MARKETS AND OTHER SERVICES - depends on themselves. Some of them will open in a different hour, other ones will be closed till Wednesday. Check previously with your travel agent or hotel/hostel;

           -> BUS - some of then will operate normally (most of them at Southern Zone). The other ones will have less buses as if it were weekend; 

           -> SUBWAY - they will function as if it were weekend only on Saturday. On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (till 11pm) the LINE 2 (PAVUNA - BOTAFOGO) will operate 24 hour.
