From FRI to WED - Mar 4th to 9th - Blocos de Carnaval @ Rio de Janeiro´s Streets

THE CARNIVAL HAS JUST BEGUN!!!!!

PARTIERS (or revellers, as following the "translator"...): the best days of all year long has begun!

Almost 6 days of parties, samba, beer, flirt, kisses, love, more drink and more samba!!!!! It´s a pity we cannot guarantee sunny days here, in RIO DE JANEIRO, but, even if it rains, THE CARNIVAL IS ON!!!!

The blog will change, specially these days, the standards of posting... it will be done to list some USEFUL TIPS (like warnings and suggestions), to make you have as much information to be able to enjoy nicely and safely all these days (and nights!) of THE BIGGEST PARTY IN THE WORLD.

1-) ABOUT STREET CARNIVAL PARADES (BLOCOS):

           

           -> HAVE A PREVIOUS SCRIPTOF THE "BLOCOS" YOU WANT TO GO - make a personal guide of your preferred "blocos", and be certain to follow the most you can! Don´t be late! We suggest our preferred ones: http://partyinrio-brazil.blogspot.com/p/parceiros.html ;

           -> ALL BLOCOS ARE FOR FREE - you have to pay, obviously, what you desire to consume - beer, meals, fantasies;

           -> CHOOSE BLOCOS NEAR YOUR HOTEL - as the city´s got many of then, and most of "blocos" is at Southern Zone and Downtown (Ipanema, Copacabana, Laranjeiras, Lapa, Centro), prefer to pick up the ones which you have to move less and waste less time inside a bus or a taxi;

           -> WEAR LIGHT CLOTHING - as you will move your body, walk on and shake a lot, wear a light clothing so as not to sweat as a fountain;

           -> DRINK A LOT OF WATER AND EAT LIGHT FOOD - probably you will drink something... beer, caipirinha, tequila... but your body do also need WATER. Juices and soft drinks are easily available anywhere. And it costs a bargain... an so do meals: fruits, açaí, some snacks...

           -> DON´T TAKE WITH ALL YOUR STUFF - the "blocos" are crowded and you don´t need do carry out all important stuff of your life and share with nobody! Take only a ID, or Passport, and enough money you want to spend on this day with drinks, transportation and meals... if you want to register these funny moments, put your camera into a tight pocket or around your neck;

2-) WHAT FUNCTIONS IN THE CITY (OFFICIAL & REGULAR SERVICES)

           -> BANKS - they won´t open at MONDAY and TUESDAY. If you need to withdraw money, ask your travel agent or hotel/hostel the closer "24 hour-terminal";

           -> HOSPITAL, POLICE DISTRICT - open regularly;

           -> MALLS, MARKETS AND OTHER SERVICES - depends on themselves. Some of them will open in a different hour, other ones will be closed till Wednesday. Check previously with your travel agent or hotel/hostel;

           -> BUS - some of then will operate normally (most of them at Southern Zone). The other ones will have less buses as if it were weekend; 

           -> SUBWAY - they will function as if it were weekend only on Saturday. On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (till 11pm) the LINE 2 (PAVUNA - BOTAFOGO) will operate 24 hour.

Obs.: The Subway-Buses will operate as if it were weekend, so they won´t be able after 0am;

           -> POST OFFICE (CORREIOS) - only at Airport will open during this holiday;
